HIPAA law compliance is crucial to the privacy of the patient being protected as the law intends. The goal of HIPAA compliance is primarily to ensure that a patient’s medical records are kept safe from potential security threats. These security threats can potentially lead to fraud and abuse against the patient.
Those directly involved with a patient’s medical records primarily healthcare providers and medical billing associates are required to comply with the security measures set forth in the HIPAA law. In order to comply with HIPAA standards, those responsible to provide physical, technical, and administrative safeguards in place to ensure that patient records will not be compromised.
